Main Purpose of Job

This position conducts reviews, examinations and preliminary investigations in order to objectively monitor, verify, and analyze allotments of State and federal funds disbursed through Department of Human Resources (DHR).

Additionally, this position is key to Bureau of Investigative Services Unit (BIS) as it pertains to Standard Operating Procedures. It is a key resource for ensuring department financial integrity with regard to preventing and investigating fraud and other misconduct against DHR. By protecting DHR programs that must be free of financial and other types of abuse, the position also contributes to ensuring DHR customers achieve independence.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years experience analyzing, interpreting and applying program policies and procedures as it relates to preliminary investigations.

Experience in creating and maintaining an e-filing storage and archiving system.

Experience in researching and entering data into program mainframes.

Possession of a valid Maryland Driver's license.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
