Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to manage the Department's Fleet Operation consisting of 84 vehicles. The position requires the management of all fleet vehicles and assigned vehicles for acquisition, disposal, cost containment, safety, maintenance repairs, fuel management, driver assignment, monitoring and controlling vehicle usage.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have experience managing a fleet of vehicles and using fleet management software.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.  Successful candidates will be placed on the employment eligibility list categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED. 

The list will be valid for at least one year and may be extended.  The list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees.
