Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to identify educational needs of the facility, set priorities and develop programs for meeting these needs and evaluate outcomes.  Duties include, but are not limited to:  developing and delivering in-service programs that meet organization and/or regulatory goals and requirements; conducting train-the-trainer sessions for designated hospital staff; evaluating the effectiveness of the training programs; coordinating the training plan, maintaining statistical data and completing necessary reports; providing CPR and PMAB training to designated facility staff; and, maintaining on-going competence through attendance at professional programs.  This position will also coordinate out-service training for all hospital employees by:  providing timely/accurate information to staff for various types of out-service training; maintaining up-to-date records of individual staff training; creating and maintaining a database to track/trend out-service training requests; and, conducting needs assessments biennially to assist in identifying training needs.  This position will report to the Director of Staff Development & Education.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience planning and conducting employee development and training.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in planning, conducting or coordinating training or staff development activities may substitute on a year for year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in education and training classification or education and training specialty codes in the education and training field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
