Introduction

A Lottery Representative I is an entry level sales position for the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Howard, Montgomery, and Prince Georges Counties.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to visit 90-125 Lottery agent locations in a specific territory on a pre-determined cycle and perform duties that corresponds with being front line communicators with our agent network.

POSITION DUTIES

Travels throughout the designated territory to ensure retailers are complying with licensing policies and procedures and promoting Lottery sales activities; recruits new lottery retail locations and assists with licensing of new retailers and evaluates retailers licensing compliance; delivers point-of-sale materials to retailers; advises retailers on the effective placement and display of point-of-sale materials.  May give public talks, presentations, and will be required to measure and record clearances and heights of retailer facilities to ensure compliance with licensing policies and procedures.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience selling or marketing a consumer product from a wholesaler or manufacturer to retail outlets for resale to consumers.

Notes:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing may be substituted for the required experience.

2. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One to Two years of experience in wholesale or route sales. One to Two years of sales experience calling on retailers.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This position is a position specific recruitment for Howard , Montgomery, and Prince Georges County.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The assessment may consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.  You may be required to complete a qualification supplement, or the rating may be based on your application.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
