Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position to coordinate admission, assessment, treatment, and transitioning of clients referred to the Teen Diversion AfterCare Program and to coordinate educational and therapeutic services for clients in the Teen Diversion Day Program.  This position will implement and provide direct therapeutic services to the Teen Diversion Program in the following capacities: AfterCare Program Coordinator, therapeutic recreator and educational liaison. These positions involve supporting the Program by addressing emotional, interpersonal, and school-related issues of the Day and AfterCare Program clients.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Experience: Two years of professional experience in health services, one year of which must have been in the option for which application is made.

Notes: 1. Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. Experience in the option must be as follows: professional work related to treatment and services for mentally ill patients.

3. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidates should possess experience working with teens/groups with mental health issues and their parents, as well working in the public school system.   Excellent interpersonal skills (writing and speaking) and ability to independently manage time required.
