Main Purpose of Job

The Casino Compliance Lead will assist the Casino Compliance Supervisor in the performance of his/her duties by helping the Supervisor to maintain scheduling and staffing; ensuring that all reports and other paperwork is complete and submitted in a timely fashion; assigning details that may arise to members of the unit; ensuring that the units workspace is properly maintained and equipped; reporting performance deficiencies to the Supervisor; any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and; performing the duties of the Supervisor in his/her absence.

POSITION DUTIES

Casino Compliance Leads are responsible for first line supervision of Casino Compliance Representatives. Casino Compliance Representatives are responsible for certifying revenue from the Video Lottery Terminals (VLT), receiving complaints from the public, receiving shipments of State-owned equipment, monitoring facility employees and vendors and ensuring that various aspects of the casino’s internal controls and security surveillance and responsible gaming plans are adhered to, performing licensing functions and ensuring the integrity of the VLT gaming operation.  In addition, employees in these positions are responsible for conducting investigations, when warranted into the following:  operation of the VLT, maintenance of the VLT and associated equipment and software and any other investigations as the Lottery may deem necessary.  Casino Compliance Leads will be expected to continue to perform these duties. The Casino Compliance Lead will be based at various Maryland locations and will report to the Maryland State Lottery Agency headquarters in Baltimore when necessary.  These positions report to the Casino Compliance Supervisor.

POSITION DUTIES:

Perform all duties required of a Casino Compliance Representative;
Maintain schedules and ensure appropriate staffing levels;
Assign details to members of the unit as necessary;
Ensure that the workspace is properly maintained and equipped;
Review bi-weekly time sheets for accuracy prior to their submission;
Any other duties as assigned by the Casino Compliance Manager. 
 
INDIVIDUALS MUST BE WILLING TO WORK ALL SHIFTS, AND ARE DEEMED ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEES DURING A DECLARED STATE EMERGENCY.  EMPLOYEES IN THESE POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CALL-IN 24 HOURS PER DAY.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One (I) year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This is a Promotional recruitment for the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency’s Casino Compliance Staff only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in the classification are considered essential personnel and in the event of a declared emergency, you must report to your assigned location.                               

Employees are subject to 24 hour call, 24 hours a day and, therefore, must have ready access to a telephone.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The assessment may consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualification supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

You must report all experience and education that is related to this position.

Approved candidates will be rated as Best Qualified, Better Qualified and Qualified and remain on the eligible list for at least one year.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
