Main Purpose of Job
To administer, manage, and ensure that the goals and objectives of the Department of Juvenile Services are carried out in assigned programs and services in the Baltimore City Region. The Assistant Regional Director, under the direction of the Regional Director is the liaison for activities between facility and community case managers to foster cooperative case management. The Assistant Regional Director, under the direction of the Regional Director, serves as chief operations manager for an assigned geographical portion of the Region, oversees the staff and daily operations for several programs and services within the assigned portion of the Region known as Division III including the Drug Court case management unit and three units of standard Probation and Aftercare. The Assistant Regional Director is responsible for in excess of twenty Case Management Specialists and directly supervises five Case Manager Specialist Supervisors as well as several specific programmatic and support staff. The Assistant Regional Director manages other initiatives as assigned from time to time.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university.
Note: An Associate of Arts degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or university and three years of experience supervising case management staff may be substituted for the required Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Five years of experience providing case management services to emotionally or socially maladjusted, delinquent victimized or exceptional juveniles in a community or residential setting. Two years of this experience must have involved the supervision of case management service staff.
A Master's degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or university and two years of experience supervising case management staff may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Note: Candidates appointed to positions in the classification must be fully certified by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission prior to appointment and are required to maintain certification while employed.
