Main Purpose of Job

The Program Manager position funded through a Cooperative agreement with the US Department of Education provided grant funds to provide staff that will focus on the development, implementation, coordination and ongoing oversight of the Maryland PROMISE Grant (Promoting the Readiness of Minors in Supplemental Security Income Initiative). This position will assist the Project Director and oversee the day to day management of budget, subcontractors, and federal reporting.

POSITION DUTIES

Essential Duties of the Position (not all-inclusive)

  1. Coordinate and oversee day-to-day project task, schedule regular meetings of the grant management team and State Advisory Committee;
  2. Prepare periodic reports on project’s milestones and challenges;
  3. Track and monitor expenditures and ensure that timelines and budgets are met, prepare grant narrative and fiscal reports to US Department of Education specifications;
  4. Collect and track data related to short term and long range goals and objectives and related performance measures and grant project funds received to ensure compliance with US Department of Education requirements;
  5. Develop and coordinate purchase orders , procurement activities, invoicing processes and other fiscal requirements to expedite grant related expenditures and reimbursements; and
  6. Create and edit documents, powerpoints, and other written communication

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is limited to current MDOD employees.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
