Introduction

The Maryland State Retirement Agency has a permanent position for an Administrator II within the Agency’s Administration Division/ Data Control Unit, located at 120 E. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland.  The Maryland State Retirement Agency is the administrator of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System.  The System is a multi-employer, public employees’ defined benefit retirement system composed of twelve (12) separate retirement and pension systems with additional plan components, covering approximately 193,000 active members and more than 137,000 retirees and beneficiaries.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise, manage and control the operations of the Employer Reporting Adjustments and Member Contributions Audit Section of the Data Control Unit. This position reports directly to the Accountant Manager II responsible for the Enrollments, Employer Reporting Adjustments and Member Contribution Audit, and Employer Reporting Maintenance and Collection Sections. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervision and leadership of the Employer Reporting Adjustments and Member Contributions Audit Section in processing adjustments of prior reported payroll data (SRA714), conversion of member service related to transfers among plans (10/12 month), reviewing Cross Foot Error reports generated by the MPAS system to resolve contribution discrepancies, processing Title 37 transfers, performing Active Master File account audits for service and contribution deficiencies, preparing and authorizing adjustment transactions as a result of the account audits, and assisting with processes to ensure the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of data on the Active Master File at fiscal year close.

Candidates must possess solid computer skills (Microsoft Office products), strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization and time management skills, and enjoy working in a fast paced, deadline sensitive environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience researching and interpreting laws, regulations, or policies.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. PLEASE DO NOT FORWARD A COPY OF YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE.
