Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide direct management, oversight and supervision of the Springfield Hospital Center's Department of Environmental Care & Life Safety. The position ensures the hospital's compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Standards for the Environment of Care and Life Safety and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations regarding safety. The position supports the hospital's mission by working to ensure and promote a safe environment for patients, employees and visitors of the hospital.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF ONE (1) YEAR EXPERIENCE IN THE AREA OF ENVIRONMENT OF CARE (EOC) WHICH INCLUDES HOSPITAL/FACILITY SAFETY, PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE OF UTILITY SYSTEMS, AND FIRE AND SAFETY CODES.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
