Main Purpose of Job

In collaboration with the Primary Care Office and the State Office of Rural Health, the Workforce Coordinator serves as the overall coordinator for all health care workforce development programs assigned within the Office of Primary Care Access (OPCA), Health Systems and Infrastructure Administration (HSIA) including the State Loan Assistance Repayment Program (SLRP), the J-1 Visa Waiver program, and the National Health Service Corp program. The Workforce Coordinator is the primary liaison with the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and is also responsible for maintaining and establishing new partnerships to further workforce retention and recruitment. Additionally, the Workforce Coordinator supervises program staff to ensure that all processes, including the preparation and processing of all forms and documents for deployment of health professionals around the state, are implemented accurately and within the established time frame. The Workforce Coordinator serves as the main point of contact for federal and state agencies, provides grants management, and prepares all required reporting. The Workforce Coordinator, with guidance from the OHPP Director, is responsible for developing and executing new strategies to increase primary care provider recruitment and retention efforts in Maryland.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should have experience working with partners to develop programs, as well as experience  with the implementation and processing of applications.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
