DHMH- Laboratories Administration, Baltimore, MD.

Main Purpose of Job

This position is the full performance level of work that is responsible for the inspection and investigation functions of the Division of Drug Control in the Laboratories Administration. This position participates in the Division's mission critical activities to protect the citizens of Maryland by conducting inspections of pharmacies, drug manufacturers, drug distributors, the State's narcotic treatment (methadone) programs, and authorized individuals who prescribe, including physicians, dentists, veterinarians, nurse practitioners and podiatrists to determine compliance with State and federal regulations, laws and policies. This position gives priority to pharmacy inspections. Additional mission critical activities include joint Federal-State investigations with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, special drug diversion investigations, drug inventory reviews and special assignment from the professional licensing boards (e.g., Board of Pharmacy, Board of Physicians, etc.). This position also provides administrative support and expertise to the Chief and Deputy Chief as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience: Two years of experience as a Registered Pharmacist.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Pharmacist from the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your license, license verification or license number and expiration date must be attached to your application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.

2. Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
