Introduction

THIS IS A POSITION SPECIFIC RECRUITMENT FOR THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY OFFICE OF CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT AND LIMITED TO CANDIDATES WILLING TO ACCEPT EMPLOYMENT IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY.

Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for assisting the Administration and Legal units by researching, analyzing and compiling data. The position is responsible for creating and maintaining databases, spreadsheets and reports for statistical purposes and for use by the management team to effectively monitor and administer the program;oversees the operation of the front desk and reception area and maintains the agency-wide projects such as the closed files and the genetic testing. In addition, this position will be required to supervise assigned clerical personnel.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess prior work experience in the following areas:

1.  Supervision of lower level clerical staff.

2.  Creation and use of Access Databases.

3.  Creation and use of Excel Spreadsheets.

4.  Using a document scanning/electronic filing system.

5.  Management of multiple projects.

6.  Time management training.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

If you are in state service and are a promotional candidate, your salary will be determined in accordance with State of Maryland Salary Guidelines.

The assessment will consist of rating of your education, training and experience relating to the requirements of the position.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  All approved candidates will be placed on an eligible list. 

The resulting eligible list may be used for future vacancies with this agency or other state agencies. 

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
