Introduction
This is a Position Specific Recruitment limited to current employees working for the Prince George's County Department of Social Services. You must currently be employed at the Prince George's County Department of Social Services and meet the current Minimum Education and Experience requirements to be approved for this recruitment.

Main Purpose of Job
This position maintains contact with public and private executives, professional persons and other officials; responds to inquiries from individuals by phone; acts as intermediary for the Assistant and Deputy Assistant Director in their absence utilizing expert knowledge regarding the functions, procedures, organization and the administrative aspects of the agency; maintains and schedules appointment calendar regarding daily engagements of the Assistant and Deputy Director with individuals such as agency Director, District Managers, public officials, community representatives, political figures and staff who request face to face discussions of complaints, problems and concerns; works on variety of complex and confidential secretaial tasks, determines in the absence of the Assistant and Deputy Director what confidential information regarding office activities or services provided are to be shared with individuals contacting the office; receives and reviews all incoming mail for the Office of the Assistant and Deputy Director, determines appropriate distributions to office personnel; greets and receives guests, State officials, visitors and other agency staff attending meetings or interviews with the Assistant and Deputy Assistant Director; prepares correspondence from the Assistant and Deputy Director such as answers to letters from the County Executives Office or the Secretary of the Department of Human Resources regarding service delivery and memos to staff; monitors receipt of time sheets from District Managers and ensures timely submission to human resources; responsible for copying and distribution, filing of correspondence to supervisors, support staff and other administrators in the agency or outside the agency; orders inventory and maintains all supplies for the Assistant and Deputy Director.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
This recruitment is limited to employees currently workinig at the Prince George's County Department of Social Services.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
