This is a Position Specific Recruitment for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. You must meet both the Minimum and Selective Qualifications to be eligible.

Main Purpose of Job

The primary function of this position is to provide a proficient level of job development, marketing, employment placement/referral, consultation, and administrative type of services for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services, its customers, the Baltimore City business community, the Baltimore City non-profit organizations, and the Baltimore City community at large. This position is specifically responsible for employment services provided to the clients of the TANF program; therefore, the position is representative of that population. This position also provides services to people with criminal backgrounds (formerly incarcerated/ or convicted) as they make the transition back into the workforce community.

This position also provides Federal bonding for its customers. Each individual coordinator assesses each assigned person's employability and skill level and develops an Individual Employment Plan based on the assessment and discussion with the job seeker.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

FOR EDUCATION OBTAINED OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF THE EQUIVALENT AMERICAN EDUCATION AS DETERMINED BY A CREDENTIAL EVALUATION SERVICE. THIS EVALUATION MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR APPLICATION. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN DISAPPROVAL.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE MUST HAVE BEEN IN A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (IF YOU ARE NOT USING EDUCATION TO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXERIENCE).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience relating to the requirements of the position. BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
