This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible will be used to staff this position or function only. This list will be maintained for one year. You will need to reapply for any future recruitment for this job classification.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Baltimore City

Main Purpose of Job

Daily Operations of state-of-the-art computer based mail processing system equipment such as inserters, sorters and barcode devices ensuring efficient delivery of U.S. time-sensitive mail;  Create and Run reports for management and USPS from mailing equipment for tasks as completed;  Pickup outgoing mail and sort accordingly to allow posting through the US Postal Service (USPS); Monitor equipment for optimum service and proactively schedule preventive maintenance with mailroom equipment technicians; Monitor and track supplies and materials required in mailroom operation; Maintain an inventory of such supplies; Maintain a high level of customer care and; Sort and deliver incoming mail for all units.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: One year experience performing clerical duties in an office environment.

Notes:

 1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are subject to security clearance before the interview, and their work records will be reviewed by the hiring division.

Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating the qualifications for interview.

The certified list will be used by DLLR for a period of one year.

Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification. A copy of your proof of eligibility (DD 214) for Veterans’ Credit must be in this office and completely verified before Veterans’ Credit will be approved.  Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of eligibility for Veterans’ Credit.
