Main Purpose of Job

The incumbent will provide budget management support to the Science Services Administration (SSA) by managing all SSA current and prior year contracts. Additionally, the incumbent will learn to perform tasks that support the Federal Funds management task including management of various grants and coordination of SSA's MBE/WBE reporting efforts. The incumbent will learn to manage tasks associated with the federal DBE reporting requirments. The incumbent will perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, duties assocated with encumbrance tracking and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) implementation.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None

Note: Candidates may substitute experience in budget preparation, presentation and execution at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education for the required college education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

It is preferred that the selected candidate possess the following:

  • Experience with procuring goods and services for a medium to large size business or organization.  If you possess this preferred experience, please indicate when and where this experience was gained.

SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered. It is imperative that you give complete information on your application. Please note that you will be required by the appointing agency to provide proof upon hire for all certifications, licenses, education and work experiences. For education obtained outside the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your training and experience as they relate to the needs of the position. Candidates will be placed on the employment list categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED AND QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of the examination.

This list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees. You must possess the minimum qualifications before you may be selected for a State position. Verification will be completed by the Appointing Authority.

If you are scheduled to complete an education or licensing requirement within six months of the examination, you may participate in the examination process.

Permanent State employees may also complete necessary experience based on the number of hours worked per week. You must include on your application the time in such activity.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
