Main Purpose of Job

In order for RICA-Baltimore to maintain a family driven, youth guided program this position researches clinical effectiveness and analyzes treatment outcomes. Specifically, this job requires submitting and maintaining internal review board (IRB) compliance, designing research protocols, maintaining the current research protocol which includes administration of a variety of psychological tests on an ongoing basis, data entry, data management, in-depth knowledge of statistical methods to analyze data and graphically depict results. This position supervises and mentors both undergraduate and graduate student interns to support the research endeavor while maintaining relationships with psychology departments at partnering universities. Provides comprehensive psychological assessments, as needed, at the request of Psychiatrists, Social Workers or Educational staff, that result in written reports and assessment feedback. Provides individual, group and family therapy, clinical case management, psychological evaluations or updates, and clinical advice and support to a caseload of approximately 1 adolescent in a residential or day treatment center. Requires specific expertise in understanding the symptoms and treatments for clients. Requires working effectively with a treatment team made up of nursing/residential, educational and rehabilitation staff as well as social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. Generates the extensive documentation such as treatment plans, progress notes and reports required in a contemporary mental health context. Requires knowledgeable of Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

Experience: Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of the License as a Psychologist.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Testing Unit to remove pending status.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
