The current vacancy is located at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.

The duties of this position include: gravesite preparation and closing, grave maintenance and headstone installation, grounds maintenance, and the maintenance of buildings and equipment.  These duties may be performed under the following working conditions:

• various weather conditions, including rain, snow, and heat;
• muddy ground and open excavations; and
• bending, stooping, and lifting items in excess of 50 pounds.

Education: Completion of the sixth grade.

Experience: One year of experience in the operation of complex or specialized construction or maintenance equipment which has a pedal operated clutch and a multi-speed manual transmission.

Applicants for Motor Equipment Operator I/II and III must possess a valid Maryland Driver’s License depending on the type of equipment operated. All applicants must list their license number and date of issue on the application. Employees in the State Highway Administration, Department of Transportation may be required to obtain and maintain Departmental certification on several pieces of specialized seasonal equipment.

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
