Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide psychological services to patients that facilitate treatment, optimal patient functioning and/or return to the community. This position will develop competencies in clinical work and professional functioning through didactics, supervision, and practical experiences to allow transition from trainee to entry-level practitioner by the end of the internship.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Enrollment in a doctoral level psychology program as defined by the Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations, 18-101 (g) and eligible for internship as determined by the university or professional school.

Experience:  None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

In accordance with the Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations, 18-301 (b3), the Psychologist Intern does not require exemption from licensure by the State Board of Examiners for Psychologists.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1.  Candidates may be given a medical examination to determine their ability to perform job related functions.

2.  The psychologist intern program requires of each intern the equivalent of one year full-time training to be completed in no less than 12 months and no more than 24 months.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
