This is a position specific recruitment for the Annapolis, Maryland location of the Department of Natural Resources- Resource Assessment Unit.  This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only.  The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.  Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Power Plant Assessment Division of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, located in Annapolis, Maryland, is currently accepting applications for a Power Plant Siting Assessor in the Power Plant Research Program. This position will be responsible for performing evaluations related to existing and proposed power plants and will manage complex technical evaluations of the environmental, economic, and engineering issues related to power plants.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in the environmental or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Six years of experience in administrative or professional environmental science work, of which two years must have involved experience as a project leader or managing environmental or scientific projects or programs.

Notes:

1. Possession of a Master’s Degree in environmental or physical sciences from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the general experience in administrative or professional environmental science work.

2. Registration from the Maryland State Board for Professional Engineers as a Licensed Professional Engineer (general) may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in the assessment of power plants or a related environmental management experience and/or a Master's Degree in the environmental or physical sciences is preferred but not required.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
