Introduction
The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) is an independent State agency that regulates Maryland’s insurance industry and protects Maryland consumers. There are approximately 1,600 insurance companies and more than 135,000 insurance producers (agents and brokers) that conduct business in the State of Maryland and that impact Maryland citizens who purchase insurance products. Through the diligence of a highly professional staff, the MIA works to facilitate a strong insurance marketplace where consumers are well informed and treated fairly.

Main Purpose of Job
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience with server administration.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
General knowledge of networks, file shares, Cyber security, VOIP, SAN, server back-up and recovery processes and disaster recovery planning.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill with the following:
- Server alerts and log files
- Virus protection software
- Capacity planning
- Image production
- Inventory management
- Creating and maintaining system documentation
- Hardware and software procurement
Experience working with the following technologies:
- Novell and Microsoft operating systems
- Linox operating systems SLES 9, 10 and 11
- Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
- VMWare
- Cisco Routers and Switches
- Cisco VOIP
- EMC SAN
- Console1
- IManager
- IPrint
