Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional position responsible for managing and administering federally funded Child Nutrition Programs by developing and implementing policies, assuring compliance with State and Federal regulations, and providing leadership, vision and goals to increase participation in the Programs.

POSITION DUTIES

Manages and administers the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child Nutrition Programs (CNPs) such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), Special Milk Program (SMP) and National School Breakfast and School Lunch Programs (NSBP/NSLP) by providing technical support and training to current and prospective agencies, the general public, legislators and independent auditors; reviews and processes agency agreements and annual renewals according to regulation and policy; develops and presents training materials and programs for current and potential agencies; interprets new and current regulations and guidelines and facilitates their implementation, compliance and understanding; collaborates and develops written communication on policies, procedures and other pertinent information to disseminate to agencies, staff and others as appropriate; develops, revises and distributes School and Community Nutrition Programs memorandums.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

A Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate course work in Health Science, Food Service Administration, Consumer Science, Dietetics, Nutrition, Public Health, Public/Business Administration or a related area. EXPERIENCE: Three years of professional experience in program administration, coordination or management. Experience in Child Nutrition Programs or teaching consumer sciences/ Registered Dietitian is desirable.

NOTE:

Two years of additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the Master’s degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations; ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written communications; ability to develop, organize and present trainings; ability to interpret policies and procedures, assess programs and problem solve; ability to organize and manage multiple tasks; ability to maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.
