Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to manage, direct and administer the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Office of Governmental Affairs. This includes providing advice and guidance to the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, and DHMH Program Directors on legislative issues, drafting legislation and position statement supporting the Department's position, testifying in legislative hearings, reviewing and commenting on federal legislation, and providing information and support on legislative matters for all DHMH programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and six years administrative or professional experience, three years of experience required included responsibility for drafting legislative language, analyzing proposed legislation, testifying before the General Assembly or communicating a position on legislation to members of the Legislature and/or community, including two years of management or supervisory experience.
A master’s degree will substitute for one year of general experience. Additional general experience will substitute year for year for the bachelor’s degree.
