Introduction

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.

LOCATION OF POSITION

200 West Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the maintenance of vendor tables for State of Maryland’s Financial Management Information System (FMIS), property records for the department and intra-agency transactions.   

POSITION DUTIES

Serves as Agency Vendor Coordinator in R*STARS, process changes, additions and/or deletions to the agency vendor tables; assists with recording inventory equipment; posts inter-state agency expenditure transactions and vender changes; prepares monthly spreadsheets and reports; assists with the reconciling property transactions; collects and reviews invoices, purchase orders and financial reports for completeness and proper coding;  assists with other duties as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Note: Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience working with the State of Maryland’s Financial Management Information System (FMIS) is preferred.

Not Applicable.

Conclusion

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and travel throughout the State are required.  Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of applications  used for automated accounting software packages specifically MS Excel;  knowledge of the principles and practices of bookkeeping as it relates to inventory control; knowledge of the common books of accounts and the process of monitoring and reconciling financial records; skill in researching discrepancies in accounting, inventory,  and budgetary data and initiates making necessary adjustments; skill in implementing and using automated accounting software packages; skill in setting up and maintaining spreadsheets and ledgers; skill in  preparing financial reports;  ability to manage work time efficiently and effectively under deadlines; ability to establish and maintain effective harmonious working relationships.
