Main Purpose of Job

The Nurse Practitioner provides somatic care to patients / residents in support of the Clinical Director, cottage psychiatrists, and contractual somatic physician. This individual also coordinates the Infection Prevention and Control Program for the Center. The provision of somatic care to patients / residents is an integral part of the Center's comprehensive array of services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife.

Experience: One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse-Midwife.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse Midwife from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.  A copy of your current license must accompany application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
