Introduction

MD Department of Public Safety and Correctional Service (DPSCS), Information Technology & Communications Division (ITCD) is recruiting for a contractual Office Processing Clerk, II.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Information Technology & Communications Division

6776 Reisterstown Road, Suite 205, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide the first line of customer service contact with Central Repository's Non-Criminal customers professionally and providing accurate and complete information. Incumbent reviews, verifies, and interprets information in records; responds to inquiries; makes determinations and resolves problems relative to inaccurate or incomplete information, such as discrepancies in various records and documents being processed.

POSITION DUTIES

Answer phone inquiries from customers regarding the procedures for applying for criminal history record information.

Document customers concerns, complaints and questions, to ensure information is accurate and complete.

Search Archival System for retrieval of fingerprint cards/certified print.

Escort shredder bin for removal of documents.

Schedule appointments for electronic live scan locations.

Research Suspected Error Reports.

Fill supply request for fingerprint cards for applicants/agencies.

Mail out authorization packets for requesting agencies.

Process background status inquiry requests.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: One year of experience typing correspondence, reports, charts or other documents from rough draft, corrected copy or oral instruction on a keyboard of a personal computer, computer terminal or word processor.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience typing or performing other clerical duties on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate for six months of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute five courses or six months of clerical training in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette for six months of the required experience.
