Main Purpose of Job

Field Technician - Seasonal work from August to mid-December 2012. To assist the Forest Pest Managment Program in the Annual Fall Gypsy Moth Egg Mass Survey Program and the Fall Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Survey and Suppression Program. Location: Western Maryland (Allegany, Garrett, and western Washington Counties).

POSITION DUTIES

IMMEDIATE OPENING - The Maryland Department of Agriculture is seeking a seasonal employee to assist in the Annual Fall Gypsy Moth Egg Mass Survey Program and the Fall Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Survey and Suppression Program, between August and mid-December 2012.  Includes working in forested and urban areas, contact with the public and recording of population and related forest data.  May also include systemic or trunk injection of insecticides for Hemlock trees.  Work may involve exposure to insects, ticks, poison ivy, and forest and urban animals.  This is a contractual position and does not include any fringe benefits such as leave time, holidays or health insurance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must have Driver's License valid in Maryland, with no more than 5 points on driving record.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be admitted to the interview for this position.  Interviews will be conducted at the regional office in Cumberland, Maryland.
