Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland State Retirement Agency has a permanent Administrator II position located within the Executive Office, located at 120 E. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland. The main purpose of this position is to provide executive support to the Executive Director and to the Board of Trustees.

This is a Special Appointment position which serves at the pleasure of the Executive Director.

POSITION DUTIES

The key responsibilities of this position would be to:

o   Prepare detailed agendas for Board of Trustees meetings, organize complicated logistical arrangements, direct and review the preparation of materials and exhibits while maintaining strict deadlines

o   Prepare detailed agendas for the Administrative Committee of the Board of Trustees meetings, organize complicated logistical arrangements, direct and review the preparation of materials and exhibits while maintaining strict deadlines

o   Maintain and monitor disability retirement appeal caseload for appearance before the Board, initiate correspondence, schedule hearings, prepare appeal documents for Board, and disseminate information on Board decisions to concerned parties

o   Transmit complicated instructions for assignment and information regarding administrative decisions and polices to staff of the agency independently and on behalf of the Executive Director and Board of Trustees.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with an Administrative Board, very good communication skills, oral and written, be highly detail oriented, and possess strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.  

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education:  A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 

Experience: Four years experience in administrative staff or professional work.   

Notes:  1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 

2.  Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

o   A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.

o   One year experience with working with an Executive Board.
