Main Purpose of Job
The incumbent will work with patients who are medically complex, requiring intensive medical management for multi-system failure, often requiring ventilator management and weaning. The physician will work with the entire interdisciplinary team of professionals to maintain medical stability along with the rehabilitation process which often results in excellent outcomes for the patient. The incumbent will also represent the hospital as needed in public relations/community education activities, as well as, education to the staff. The physician will examine, treat, and prescribe to patients as well as develop patient treatment(s) based on diagnoses; implement and oversee treatment plans; conduct clinical rounds, and provide medical services to a caseload of patients.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.
Experience: As required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess a board certifications in either Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.
2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with, Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09 Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
