In the near future, DHCD will be relocating to the New Carrollton transit stop location in Prince George's County.
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this job is to provide support of a financial, analytical and administrative nature to employees in the Department while maintaining strong internal controls, thereby supporting the goals and mission of DHCD and the Division, as described in the Managing for Results (MFR) documents.
POSITION DUTIES
DHCD is seeking a qualified enthusiastic candidate to fill a fiscal accounts technician position in its Finance Division. This position will process payments, code cash receipts, reconcile accounts, and assist our team who wants to come to work knowing that what they do makes a difference. Successful candidates will have strong Excel skills, take initiative and communicate well with the team. DHCD offers a flexible schedule, advancement opportunities, and potential of permanent employment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.
Note:
Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be a self-starter, have knowledge of GAAP or government accounting, possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and be able to work independently and within deadlines.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional preference will be given to applicants who have skills and experience in MS Excel and its financial functions and knowledge of either federal grant reporting or loan servicing.
