Main Purpose of Job

This is the entry level of work at a local health department performing inspections and investigations to secure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations.  Employees in this classification receive close supervision and do not supervise other employees.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists under the certificate of eligibility requirements for Environmental Sanitarians.

Experience: None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a certificate of eligibility to be licensed as a Registered Environmental Sanitarian from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215, 410-764-3512.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated.  The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  Please report all related education, experience, dates and hours of work.  For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.  All information concerning your qualifications must be submitted by the closing date.  We will not consider information submitted after this date.  Applicants certified to list will receive eligibility for a period of one (1) year.  Eligibility may be extended beyond one (1) year period.  For Recorded Job Information Call: 410-767-6018.
