LOCATION OF POSITION
DHMH, Prevention and Health Promotion Administration, Baltimore, MD
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is the preparation and management of the annual operating budget and quarterly budget projections for those units assigned to the position within the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration while assuring the financial integrity of the fiscal records of the Administration. This position oversees the development of the budget, preparation of financial projections, and expenditure management of all units within a specified program. These duties include assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other budget specialists assigned to the program units, as well as providing training or guidance in the area of budget/expenditure management.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in budget preparation, presentation and execution.
Note: 1. Candidates may substitute graduate education in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration at a rate of 30 semester hours for one year of required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute additional experience as defined above on a year for year basis for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant should have experience working within the DHMH financial system, knowledge of federal award and be able to conduct detailed analysis and perform in a fast-paced setting demonstrating the ability to multi-task and guide and lead other staff members. The successful candidate must also be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office software. Experience must be listed on application to receive credit.
