Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Board of Nursing is seeking a Computer Network Specialist Manager.  The main purpose of this position is to perform team leadership duties for Maryland Board of Nursing Information Technology Office to ensure availability and foster maximum utilization of information technology resources by MBON employees, partners and clients in their pursuit of the Board's mission.  The successful candidate for this position demonstrates a strong commitment to Excellent Customer Service and teamwork to provide hands-on technical expertise and support for all MBON information technology applications used to enact the board's mission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in local or wide area networks.

Experience: Five years of experience planning, integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area networks, including 3 years experience supervising IT programmers, analysts and network specialists.

Notes: Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in local or wide area networks may be substituted for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should have extensive knowledge of networking, switching (Layer 2 and 3), TCP/IP, OSI model, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server software, server hardware, and LAN security principles.  The incumbent should also have experience with help desk resolution and customer service.
