Main Purpose of Job

The Business Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting the administration of Maryland Health Benefit Exchange's Producer Authorization Program. This person will perform the operational review of applications submitted by producers interested in selling insurance plans offered on Maryland Health Connection (the Exchange). To perform follow up and outreach to producers regarding changes in policy, authorization status, and other critical communications. Will work to load producer information into Maryland Health Connection. This person will work to gather, validate, and analyze performance metrics relevant to the Producer Authorization Program. To act as a Level 2 resource for Producer inquiries to the Producer Support Hotline.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

* Strong oral and written communications
* At least one year of experience working in the insurance industry

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
