Introduction

The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS), Community Supervision (formerly Parole & Probation Division), is currently recruiting for an Office Services Clerk (Agent Assistant). This is a Contractual full-time position with no paid benefits.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the employee assigned to this position is to provide office support for the case management section of the Central Home Detention Unit. This includes data entry into various computer databases, answering telephones, directing calls to appropriate staff, retrieve data from the OBSCIS terminal, and other general clerical duties as deemed necessary.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties include, but may not necessarily be limited to:

Assist in reporting urinalysis test results to court/parole commission, supervising agent and lab assistants;

Assist in establishing urinalysis-testing schedules for offenders;

Assist in determining, enforcing, and reinforcing graduated sanctions;

Assist agents in the management of their caseloads;

Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical duties.  

Notes:

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the requires experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process will include a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the job. The resulting eligible list will be valid for at least one year.
