EDUCATION PROGRAM SPECIALIST I

This is a professional CONTRACTUAL position responsible for providing technical assistance to local school systems for implementing High School Mathematics,  job-embedded professional development  in collaboration with local school system staff in low-achieving schools as defined by the Race-to-the-Top application.

Provides technical assistance to schools that are in school improvement status by planning, developing, implementing and evaluating job-embedded professional development for teachers and content coaches and administrators in those schools; leads and facilitates collaborative planning activities reflecting the appropriate Maryland State Curriculum (MSC) content and adult learning theory; actively engages in ongoing professional development learning activities provided by MSDE divisions related to teaching and supervision of reading and/or mathematics.

EDUCATION: A Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in Education, Educational Administration/Supervision or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of professional administrative, accountability, school improvement or teaching experience in or affiliated with an education program including experience in coordinating or administering an education program or service directly related to professional development is desirable.

NOTES: 1. Two years of additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the Master’s Degree. 2. Possession of a Doctorate in a field related to the position may be substituted for one year of the experience requirements.
