Introduction

This is a Position Specific Recruitment for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS).  The resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies within DPSCS.  This list will be valid for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

The current vacancy is at the Inmate Grievance Office in Baltimore, Maryland.

Main Purpose of Job

This position is the Administrative Officer of the Inmate Grievance Office serving as the statutory designee of the Executive Director authorized to conduct preliminary reviews of grievances.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One (I) year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

The examination may consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the job.  It is important that you provide complete and accurate information on  your application.  Successful candidates will be placed on the employment eligibility list categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED.  The list will be valid for at least one year and may be extended.  The list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

This position is assigned to a bargaining unit.  As a condition of employment, members of a bargaining unit are required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
