Application-on-File: Las Vegas Valley Water
District invites you to file a general-purpose on-line employment application
that will remain active in our database for at least a year. This
"Application-on-File" is not for a specific job opening, but may be
helpful in identifying and applying for future job openings which match your
skills.
Why submit an
"Application-on-File"?
- For later use -
Your employment history will be ready to copy into another application for
any future recruitment for which you wish to apply for that specific
position. With just a few keystrokes, you will be able to transfer the
information you enter today into new applications for specific recruitments
that open in the future. This will save you time and take the stress out of
completing another application.
- For ongoing evaluation - The
information from your on-line application will be stored in our searchable
on-line database. The Las Vegas Valley Water District, Human Resources
Department uses keywords searches to identify applicants for upcoming
recruitments. If your application looks like it matches our needs, we will
notify you about the upcoming recruitment. This service may alert you to a
recruitment you would otherwise have missed!
To enter your Application-on-File:
- Scroll down to the bottom of this screen and
click on "Register and fill out an application on line".
- Complete the registration process and record
your user ID and password for future use.
- Complete your application, including your
resume if you wish.
- Submit your application over the internet by
pressing the Send button in the final part of the online application.
Your application will remain in our database
for at least one year.
When your application is matched with a
recruitment:
We will contact you by e-mail. If your e-mail
address changes or you wish to update your application-on-file, you can do so,
again gaining access with your user ID and password. (You must remember your
user ID password to make changes or updates!)
To submit an application for a specific
recruitment at a later time:
- Use your user ID and password to retrieve
your application-on-file
- Select the "Application-on-File" to
copy the information into the new application.
- Make modifications to the new application.
- Submit your application for the specific
recruitment.
Keyword Searches:
When we search the database using a keyword
search, we will look for keywords in each application. This will help us
identify potential applicants for upcoming recruitments. keywords often depend
on the recruitment profession. For example, we might include "office
manager" or "Excel" if we were searching for a Departmental
Assistant, "JAVA" for a programmer, "land use" for a
Planner, "interview" for an Eligibility Worker, or "manager"
for a Director.
Getting Recognized:
Please recognize that an Application-on-File
increases your chances of being matched to a recruitment position, but does not
guarantee a match even if you are qualified. Since we may not always conduct a
keyword search or use the key words that would produce a match with your
application, we still ask for your help in watching for recruitment openings and
submitting applications during the recruitment period.
