JOB DESCRIPTION

Loudoun County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list in their training division for the position of Part Time Training Instructor for Fire, EMS or both. Duties include, but are not limited to: completion of essential elements of course coordination for each assigned program in a timely and professional manner; providing accurate instruction commensurate with prescribed program learning objectives; employing effective instructional practices and media to promote learning; ensuring safe and effective use of training center facilities during course delivery; ensuring that relevant policies governing facility use are adhered to during course delivery; and all other related duties while promoting the department core values of Teamwork, Integrity, Professionalism and Service.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science or a related field and/or experience in fire/emergency medical services training and education. Candidates for Fire Instructor must also have NFPA 1041 Instructor I. Candidates for EMS Instructor must also have one or more of the following certifications: VAOEMS EMT-B Evaluator, VAOEMS EMT-B Instructor, VAOEMS ALS Coordinator, CPR Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor, PHTLS Instructor, LCFR Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor, LCFR AED/Combitube Instructor. PREFERRED(not mandated): Five years directly related experience. Candidates for fire instructor also; VDFP Fire Officer I, II, II, IV Train the Trainer, VDFP Fire Instructor I, II, III Train the Trainer, VDFP Driver/Operator-Pumper Train the Trainer, VDFP Driver/Operator Aerial Train the Trainer, VDFP Mayday-Firefighter Down Train the Trainer, VDFP HTR Vehicle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Rope Rescue or Rope Rescue Train the Trainer, VDFP/NFPA 1403 Compliance Officer, and VDFP National Fire Academy Hands-Off Courses Train the Trainer. Candidates for EMS Instructor also; VAOEMS EMT-B Instructor, PHTLS Instructor, LCFR Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor, LCFR AED/Combitube Instructor.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must possess a valid, appropriate driver's license and be at least 18 years of age at time of application. All applicants must submit a County of Loudoun job application electronically via www.loudoun.gov.

POST CONDITIONAL OFFER CONTINGENCIES

Selections process includes the following: Review of application, qualifications and certifications, followed by a panel interview. Successful candidates will receive a conditional offer of employment contingent upon the successful completion of background investigation, which includes a driving record check. Personnel who elect to be Fire Instructors and enter into IDLH (live fire)conditions must also successfully pass a NFPA 1582 Medical Evaluation and Respiratory Protection Fit Test.
