MAJOR FUNCTION

Performs supervisory duties coordinating Minibus Drivers transporting clients and performing routine custodial or general maintenance work.

MAJOR DUTIES

Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below.

  • Supervises the work of subordinate staff by assigning and reviewing work, providing training and counseling and evaluating performance.
  • Schedules vehicles into and out of service for maintenance.
  • Prepares and maintains reports on vehicle usage, maintenance history, driver performance and custodial supplies.
  • Substitutes for Minibus Driver as required.
  • Inspects vehicles to determine any mechanical malfunctions which would prevent safe delivery of passenger.
  • Attends state training programs, testing programs and other seminars as required.
  • May be required to perform routine custodial or light maintenance work in assigned facilities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of the functions, activities, requirements and objectives of the assigned assistance program.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle mechanical functions and maintenance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Hillsborough County roads, streets and traffic patterns.
  • Ability to safely drive a minibus, van or similar vehicle.
  • Ability to plan, organize, supervise and evaluate the work of others.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Note: Minimum Qualifications MUST be attained before the recruitment ending date.

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Two years of experience operating a passenger bus, passenger mini-bus, passenger van or light passenger vehicle for hire; and
Possession of a valid Class "C" Commercial Driver License (CDL).

OR

Completion of the tenth grade; and
Three years of experience operating a passenger bus, passenger mini-bus, passenger van or light passenger vehicle for hire; and
Possession of a valid Class "C" Commercial Driver License (CDL).

CONCLUSION

OPEN AND CLOSED RECRUITMENTS:  We are running concurrent Closed (Internal) and Open recruitments. Internal candidates on a closed eligibility list must be considered first, prior to a selection being made from the open eligibility list. To be considered for the same classification under Open recruitment, internal candidates must also apply under the open recruitment process.
