Summary Statement

The seasonal Operations/Administrative Support position is responsible for providing administrative support for the Business Services section of Delaware State Parks in Dover.  In addition to general office duties the position is responsible for answering telephones, providing front licensing desk coverage, preparing field and training material, tracking supplies and materials, oversee the permit agent program and other duties assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as liaison with the public, clients, staff and others to exchange information and explain services, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Creates official agency word processing documents; creates and maintains agency databases typically using Access or similar software packages; creates and maintains spreadsheets; creates original presentations using software packages.
  • Maintain and control data and/or filing systems to ensure effective, accurate and easily retrievable documentation of operations, inventory and project activities.
  • Analyzes routine operating practices and procedures and makes recommendations to ensure smooth and efficient office operation.
  • Ability to monitor and track the sales of park permits, passes and supplies for the authorized agents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months customer service experience.
  2. Six months experience in document processing which includes reviewing and evaluating records for completeness and conformity with laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, resolve deficiencies, interpret information, and track and monitor activities.
  3. Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.
  4. Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Conditions of Hire
