Introduction

This position is a support and technician level job that entails close observance of all safety issues involved in Tree work as well as skills that support the work performed by the Tree Crew, allowing a smooth flow of productivity at the job-site.  This person will load the appropriate tools for specific jobs for departure from the shop and keep all the tools in the staging area on site.  This position is statewide and may travel to different Park sites each day.   Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all position in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.  Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

  • Hauling brush and wood from the tree to the truck.
  • Safely operate all types of equipment (Chipper, Stump Grinder, and Chain Saw).
  • Will keep the work area clear of debris, cleaning up limbs and branches as they are brought down in tree cutting work.
  • Raking the area clear to maintain the safety zone.
  • Lining up branches and piling appropriately for loading into the Chipper.
  • Keeping tools in the staging area and safe zone.
  • Driving a tree truck to and from the job site.
  • Stump Grinder & Chipper operation & Maintenance.
  • Must demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas.

  1. Knowledge of natural resources and tree care.
  2. Experience using landscaping equipment, chainsaws and other power tools.
  3. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  4. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Conditions of Hire
