Summary Statement

The Telecommunications Technologist is responsible for assisting with the configuration, implementation and management of all networks and related client services and systems. Responsible for the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems related to core services such as data, voice and video networks.  Provides 2nd level support to the Service Desk as well as agency technical personnel and DTI Operations staff. 

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  1. Experience with Cisco Contact Center Express/Finesse.

Essential Functions

Assist with testing and evaluating and implementing core communications including video and data, but with a strong focus on voice.

Work to continually improve and upgrade the telecommunications infrastructure. Support the implementation of new services, features, and technologies while maintaining operational support for existing solutions including daily Service Desk requests.

Assist in developing strategic and tactical planning of core system environments. Ability to understand and develop customer requirements including the assessment and documentation of user needs and product capabilities before development design.

Meet the demands of a 24x7 position including rotating on-call, night and weekend work and other out of hours support of any state location as required, either via remote access or on-site.

Participate in and contribute to task forces and special projects initiated within agencies, departments or divisions.

Assist with creating a stable performance environment for enterprise systems including data driven solutions regarding system functionality, integrity, security, stability.

Work effectively within a team following through on assignments, seeking and accepting direction and priorities and supporting all efforts as appropriate.

Other associated duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Telecommunications Technologist-Voice

  1. Technical training or equivalent experience with core system devices such as routers, switches (including voice and video switches), servers, core software, systems management and monitoring.
  2. Three years experience in enterprise network environments.
  3. Knowledge in systems analysis.
  4. Knowledge of data and SIP-based voice over IP networking as well as integration and application of these technologies.
  5. Experience in traditional PBX voice solutions including voice circuitry, solution redundancy, patching, upgrades and daily maintenance and support. 

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory fingerprint based criminal background check administered by the Delaware State Police is required as a Condition of Hire.
