Summary Statement

A class incumbent is responsible for organizing, coordinating and directing inter-disciplinary treatment programs for the largest adult correctional institution. 

Directs the work of 6-8 supervisory, 26-30 professional and 4-6 support staff.

Essential Functions

  • Organizes, coordinates, and directs an inter-disciplinary treatment program. 
      
  • Directly supervises, or coordinates through subordinate supervisors, the various treatment services offered in the institution.
        
  • Coordinates the treatment program with other major institutional programs and activities such as educational, securityand religious.
         
  • Conducts conferences with members of the treatment/rehabilitation staff and conducts regularly scheduled training sessions as required to include volunteers.
       
  • Evaluates current program revises and/or plans and implements new programs.
       
  • Prepares a variety of records, reports, and progress summaries as well as special and periodic reports.
       
  • Performs public relations duties and serves as departmental/institutional liaison with the community and other interested agencies regarding treatment program.
       
  • May serve on or participate in various committees and/or boards both within the institution and on a statewide basis.
      
  • Conducts quarterly inspections of all buildings for cleanliness, general living conditions and security.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Correctional Treatment Administrator
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Posession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Behavioral or Social Science or related field. 
  2. Three years experience in health or human services work such as applying theories, principles, laws and practices of health or human services programs and services that assist with and improve life for individuals, families, or communities such as financial support, employment, unemployment, housing, health care, disease prevention, substance abuse, child protective services, physical/mental health treatment and prevention or rehabilitation. 
  3. Six months experience in health or human services program administration such as overseeing and directing the development, implementation and evaluation of health or human services programs and services; planning and establishing short and long range program goals and objectives. Providing advice to other agency organizational units through consultation. 
  4. Six months experience in developing policies and procedures. 
  5. Six months experience in staff supervision of two or more employees which includes to plan, assign, review, discipline, recommend hire, promotion, termination and administer performance plans and reviews.
