Summary Statement

The incumbent works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Advance Practice Nurse, providing case management for peri-natal hepatitis and LEAD cases in Sussex County. Duties: performing client intake, obtaining client history, vital signs and weight, using various software, preparing rooms for clinician, providing pregnancy and HIV testing and counseling, dispensing, administering and charting medications, giving prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations, administering treatments, participating in community flu campaign and disaster response activities.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  1. Read, Write and Speak Haitian Creole and English fluently
  2. Read, write and speak Spanish and English fluently.

Essential Functions

  • Administers treatments as directed.
     
  • Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration).
     
  • Pours, administers, charts and records medications.
     
  • Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations.
     
  • Observes patient behavior and condition and reports changes to appropriate staff. 
     
  • Records information on patients' charts.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse III
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  1. Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
  2. At least eighteen months experience as a Practical Nurse.
