Summary Statement

The class incumbent is responsible for managing the daily administrative operations of various JP Courts located throughout Kent and Sussex County. 

  • Supervises 10 supervisory, and 61 clerical staff.
  • Annual operating budger -$500,000

Essential Functions

  • Plans/schedules resources to ensure adequate resources and staffing for the statewide system.
     
  • Develops, evaluates, implements and monitors administrative systems to achieve operational uniformity and meet objectives of the court system.
     
  • Provides direction, development opportunities and operational guidance for supervisors in the JP System.
     
  • Manages the case flow of the JP System.
     
  • Serves as Records Officer for the Court System and directs personnel in preparation of cases for auditing and microfilming.
     
  • Confers with judges, attorneys and public and/or private agencies to ensure adequate level of services are being provided or to respond to unusual circumstances or demands.
     
  • Keeps informed of proposed/enacted legislation affecting the courts and develop plans to accommodate any changes precipitated by same.

Job Requirements

Justice of the Peace Court Operations Manager
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  1. Three years experience in developing solutions and providing recommendations, guidance and direction to management/officials in accomplishing organizational and operational goals and objectives and identifying and resolving issues.
  2. Three years experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  3. Six months experience in operations management which includes planning, directing, coordinating, controlling and evaluating operations typically through subordinate supervisors.  
  4. Knowledge of developing policies or procedures.

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
