Summary Statement

This position implements and manages quality control and consistency programs for Development Coordination (DC) plan reviews statewide. Maintains and updates the Development Coordination Manual, documents, checklists, and forms for the DC web interface.  In addition this position recommends updates to Section’s software and serves as the DC Section’s interdepartmental liaison for data entry protocols, updates to Specifications and Standard Construction Details and input into the Design Resource Center. Responsibilities also include the review and revision of regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  1. Six months experience in preparing and/or reviewing subdivision street and entrance designs.

Essential Functions

  • Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications.
     
  • Reviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
     
  • Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems.
     
  • Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations.
     
  • Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
     
  • Plans and coordinates engineering projects.
     
  • Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance.
     
  • Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.
     
  • Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Engineer V
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Professional Engineering License.
  2. At least five years experience in Civil Engineering.
  3. Three years experience in engineering project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of engineering projects.
  4. One year experience in process and quality control engineering.
