Summary Statement

This class is responsible for developing and recommending plans for diverse fiscal studies, analyzing data, evaluating options and recommending alternatives impacting an agency's overall fiscal position.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  1. Six months experience in establishing and maintaining accounting or internal control policies and procedures for procurement card programs which includes evaluating and monitoring transactions to determine compliance with policies and procedures and ensuring program goals and objectives are met.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.   • Compiles and analyzes financial information to support budget development.
     
  • Analyzes payroll information to assist in the development of staffing plans.
     
  • Provides analysis of programmatic impact on the agency's budget.
     
  • Works with division management/fiscal to review, prepare and monitor each division's budget.
     
  • Monitors and analyzes various legislation to determine possible impact on department's overall fiscal position.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Fiscal Analyst
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in accounting using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  2. Six months experience in compiling, analyzing and interpreting financial data to ensure effective and efficient accounting of funds or to make projections for financial planning.
  3. Six months experience in analyzing financial problems, developing alternatives, recommending and advising management on solutions.
  4. Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  5. Six months experience in narrative report writing.

Conditions of Hire

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
