Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position provides supervision and oversight of Registered Nurses & staff on the 7am-3pm shift.  Duties include: planning, assigning, reviewing and evaluating performance and recommending hire, termination and discipline, contact with staff nurses, direct support professionals, therapy staff, Physicians, health care agencies and administrative staff, providing clinical oversight including training, serving as needed as part of the minimum coverage for their shift to meet the needs of the residents.

  • Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
      
  • Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
      
  • Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs. 
     
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team. 
     
  • Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms.
        
  • Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. At least three years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Masters degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
  2. Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.
  3. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
